Prior to joining the administration in 2008, Valérie volunteered at the school for several years in various activities such as art, gardening, cooking and science. She became the manager of the Enrichment program to oversee the Summer Camps, Daycare and served as a liaison for the lunch program. Valérie dedicates her time bringing attractive and entertaining activities for the children at SDFAS. Valérie is originally from Picardy, France and has been living in San Diego since 1995. She spent time in Marseilles working on a master's degree in Molecular Biology and Immunology before earning her Ph.D. from the Pasteur Institute in Paris. After spending more than 10 years in San Diego doing specialize research in the field of Neuro-Immunology, she decided to start a children's clothing business and not to pursue a career in science. She is the mother of three SDFAS children.

Welcome - San Diego French American School

In September 2008, San Diego French-American School (SDFAS) developed the existing Enrichment Program with the idea of offering more extracurricular activities to its students. Today, the SDFAS After-School Enrichment Program offers more than 40 afternoon and some evening classes to more than 300 children and adults on the campus and in the local community.

The SDFAS program provides a unique opportunity to enjoy a variety of After-School Activities (ASA) during the academic year. Children are involved in a wide range of fun, educational activities in French/English, Chinese, or Spanish depending on the selection.

We offer activities for students from 2 to 13 years old (PK0-8th grade) with three sessions per year; the number of classes varies between 7 and 10 weeks per session.

Classes such as cooking, yoga, basketball, volleyball, soccer, circus, gardening, surfing, dance, fencing, art, theater, skateboarding and more are part of the program.

We will have an open house After School Activity (ASA) preview for parents/students on Thursday Sept. 6th from 2:30-4:30 p.m. There will be an archery demo for children 6-8th grade on Thursday Sept. 6th from 2:15-3:15 p.m.

  • Fall session ASA program will be sent by email to parents on Friday Sept. 7th. Registration begins on Monday Sept. 10th and ends Tuesday Sept. 18th 2012. Program will start the week of Sept. 24th until Dec. 7th 2012.
  • Winter session ASA program will be sent by email to parents on Thursday Dec. 6th. Registration begins on Friday Dec. 7th and ends on Wednesday Dec. 19th 2012. Program will start the week of January 7th until March 15th 2013.
  • Spring session ASA program will be sent by email to parents on Friday March 8th. Registration begins on Monday March 11th and ends on Thursday March 21st 2013. Program will start the week of March 25th until June 7th 2013.
