    Philosophy: "L'Ecole du Samedi" is designed to give the opportunity for all children to get acquainted and familiar with the French language and culture.

    We propose 2 groups: one for French native speakers which will focus on oral and writing skills. The other one for non-French native speakers which will emphasize oral and conversational skills. The goal is to bridge the second group to the first one. Learning another language open doors to the bright future of our children. We keep our instructor/student ratio very small 1/8.

    French Native Speaker Children will be evaluated on September 1st 2012 from 9-10 a.m. at SDFAS. Saturday September 1st 2012, French native children only will be evaluated to place them accordingly within a group, from 9-10 a.m. at SDFAS. Please come before 10 a.m.

    1st session: 12 classes + 1 makeup ($580)
    9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1, 12/8 (12/15 makeup class if one is missed). No class: 11/24, 12/22, 12/29.

    2nd session: 12 classes + 1 makeup ($580)
    1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, (3/30 makeup class if one is missed).

    3rd session: 11 classes + 1 makeup ($535)
    4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25, 6/1, 6/8, 6/15, (6/22 makeup class if one is missed).
    Price includes registration ($45/2h) and material fee ($40). $30 cancelation fee. Registration deadline Sept. 6th 2012.

    French for non French Native Speakers

    Different age groups are offered:

    • Group "Le Petit Navire": 3-5 years old, full immersion in French with hands on activities on various themes. 9-11 a.m.
    • Group "Le Petit Bateau": 6-7 years old, children are learning how to read and write in English. Full immersion in French with fun activities basic words in French, alphabet, songs, role play etc... 9-11 a.m.
    • Group "La Goelette": 8-9 years old, children already know how to read and write in English. Full immersion in French using play tools to develop vocabulary and syntax skills in French. 11:15-1:15 p.m. Bernadette. No class on 10/20, 10/27.
    • Group "La Péniche": 10-12 years old, Full immersion in French using learning tools (theater, play role) to develop more deeply vocabulary and conversation in French. 11:15-1:15 p.m. Bernadette. No class on 10/20, 10/27.
    • Group "Le Paquebot": 13 and up. Full immersion in French. Conversation will be improved. Will start developing writing skills. Time TBD.

    French for French Native Speakers

    Different age groups are offered:

    • Group "Le Petit Prince": 5-6 years old children don't know how to read and write yet. Instruction based on the French program for K-1st grades (Grande section maternelle-CP). Pre-reading and writing. 9-11 a.m.
    • Group "Jacques Prévert": 7-9 years old children already know how to read and write in English. Instruction based on the French program for 2nd-3rd-4th grades (CE1-CE2-CM1). 11:15-1:15 p.m.
    • Group "Jules Verne": 10-12 years old children already have knowledge of grammar and conjugation. Children need to improve these skills as well as syntax and conversation. Instruction based on the French program for 5th-6th grades (CM2-6ème). 9-11 a.m. Bernadette. No class on 10/20, 10/27.
    • Group "Molière": 13 and up. Focus on conversation and writing skills. Saturday from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Bernadette. No class on 10/20, 10/27.

    Possibility of opening an additional class either on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon from 3-5 pm.

    Welcome to the All About Mandarin Academy!

    We are premier Chinese language educators, and we develop academic and activity-based Mandarin curriculum to enhance students' proficiency in Mandarin (Chinese) as a foreign language.

    Sing'n Speak Spanish

    Sing 'n Speak Spanish makes learning conversational Spanish easy and fun. It carries high educational goals but is playful - with songs, humor, visuals, interactive puppetry, games, role-playing, and much more! A music CD and workbook keep Spanish learning fun throughout the week and reinforce vocabulary at home. Classes meet on Saturdays throughout the school year with a maximum of just 12 children per class.

    Italian American Academy at the San Diego French American School

    The Italian American Academy is a not-for-profit organization of parents and educators whose goal is to promote and preserve the Italian language and culture. Our programs are taught by mother tongue educators and they are open to all preschool and elementary school children. All the classes are held in a fun and nurturing environment and our programs blend games and fun activities with academic subjects such as Italian History and Geography. Particular emphasis is given to song and the games Italian children play. The entire program is designed to give children a full immersion in the Italian language and its culture. All communication and activities, inside and outside the classroom, are held in Italian.

    The Italian American Academy is pleased to announce the launch of three different programs at the San Diego French American School: Italian for Italian Speakers designed for children who have previously been exposed to Italian, Italian for Beginners designed for beginners with no previous exposure to the language and Play and Learn Italian "le petit italiano" a fun and playful class designed for preschoolers.

    Italian for Beginners

    This class is specifically designed for children who are new to the Italian language. Although cultural contents will be the same for all classes, the Italian for beginners class will focus on speaking and language acquisition through a variety of fun activities and games. Cost: $500 for 15 classes/2hours. Programs will start on March 3rd through June 23rd. No classes on 4/7 and 5/26

    Italian for Italian Speakers

    Saturday 9:00-11.00AM

    This class is designed for children who have previously been exposed to the Italian language through family communication or in other school settings. Children will have an opportunity to improve their conversation skills, learn how to read and write in Italian and learn elements of Italian history, geography, and culture. Cost: $500 for 15 classes/2hours. Programs will start on March 3rd trough June 23rd. No classes on 4/7 and 5/26
