In M. Prud’homme’s geography class the 6th grade students researched a place with very low population density. In groups they worked on projects and presented them, via zoom, to their peers. Well done!
The 7th graders just completed a research and creative writing project in Social Studies and Language Arts. After learning about the history and culture of the Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties in China, students then studied Ci poetry, a popular poetry form of the Song dynasty. Students researched a self-selected natural landmark in China and conducted research on the landmark’s region, its people, and its culture. Finally, using what they learned about the landmark, the region, and Ci poetry, they composed their own free-verse poems about the landmark. All of their research and poems were then compiled on a Google Map that we were able to explore as a group and take a “virtual road trip” around China!
A calligramme is a text or poem of a type developed by Guillaume Apollinaire in which the words or letters make up a shape, particularly a shape connected to the subject of the text or poem.
6th Graders are studying symmetry in math with M. Giot. To reinforce what they are learning in class, students sent photo installations of household objects to a partner who recreated the same photo installation over an axis of symmetry. What a fun way to illustrate this concept.
Middle School Students did a supply drive this year and sent their backpacks, chairs and more to Haiti this week. We are glad to help others have a tools to get a great education!
