This week in the Mathematical Problem Solving Activity children figured out how to do the “balancing acts” on the worksheet attached — more pre-algebra. They also used LEGOs to count how many ways there are to cover a 2xN rectangle with 2×1 tiles. For N = 1,2,3,4,5 they counted 1,2,3,5,8 ways, and then guessed that it is always a Fibonacci number.
