Skateboard has been so amazing! In a few classes children (Monday Class) are learning quickly to ride their skateboards and get on the ramps.
This week in the Mathematical Problem Solving Activity children learned how to name unknown numbers (also known as “pre-algebra”!). And they played “four 4s”, in which they tried to make different numbers using exactly four 4s and any mathematical operations. Here’s a photo of the solutions they found.
Last week in the Mathematical Problem Solving Activity children learned to draw some 3D shapes, including cubes, tetrahedra, octahedra and cuboctahedra. Then they decided that a cube could be called a hexahedron! Here’s the worksheet, and some of the drawings students made on the white board (see the attached photo).

En classe d’elab-LEGO, Antoine a construit un chien mécanique.
Il a d’abord construit le corps lors de la première période et il vient juste de terminer la tête. Il a pu l’attacher au reste qui comporte un moteur.
Lorsqu’il démarre ce dernier, la bouche, la queue, les yeux et les pattes s’activent.

ASA “Petits Chefs” with Vesna on Monday for PK1-PK2.
Children enjoyed baking and making beautiful pastry such as la galette aux pommes, le far Breton, les bonhommes de pain d’épices, les madeleines…
ASA “Chefs pâtissiers” with Julie on Tuesday for K-5th grade. Children enjoyed baking and making beautiful many great mouth watering creations such as Strawberry Pie, Apple Pie, Pear & Chocolate Pie, Prune Turnover, Brownies, “Fondant au Chocolat et Mûres”, “Financier Framboise Pistache” to name a few.
ASA Tricot Crochet Broderie on Tuesday for 3-8th grade with Marie – Children started this activity by learning basic stitches in Knitting: from Garter to Purl stitches, cast on and off and finished off by switching yarn color. They also learned basic Crochet (single crochet) which was usually not the girl’s favorite activity. For the embroidery projects, they realized diverse assignments such as ornaments, an embroidered heart, cards and other decorations meant to be used for the holidays. Acquired skills: two basic stitches (the running stitch and the blanket stitch).
Pam Godde is teaching the ASA Yoga for PK1-K on Monday.
In the picture Marie is in tadasana for skeleton pose; Freya in tree for ghost pose; Isabella in warrior one with arm variation for vampire pose; and Tabatha in warrior two for witch on a broom pose. Elsa has already been picked up that day for early trick-or-treating. They were enacting Erica Silverman’s Big Pumpkin through yoga.
