Dear SDFAS community,
I hope this message finds everyone in good spirits and in good health. One week from a needed Spring break for students and teachers, we recognize that the challenges of this unfortunate global health crisis continue to require significant adaptation and effort on everyone’s part. We are here to listen and to help in any way we are able. Please be aware that there will be no April break camps at SDFAS.
With the continued need for physical distancing, it remains unclear if we will be able to return to school campus before the end of the school. Similarly, it is unclear whether SDFAS will be able to maintain its summer camp programming. We will continue to communicate about that as time progresses.
In the meantime, to plan for distance learning over a longer time period than initially anticipated, we have made further adjustments to the school calendar. Over the course of the remaining seven weeks of school following April Break, there will also be a four-day week every two weeks. To make this happen, additional rest/catch-up days for teachers and students will take place on:
•Monday, May 11th
•Monday, May 25th (Memorial Day)
•Friday, June 5th
As we prepare for Week #5 of distance learning, if you’ve not yet done so, please take a quick moment to complete the Survey for Week #4. It will remain open until Monday at midnight.
I want to again thank each of you for your patience, support and trust during this challenging period. At the same time, for me, the unprecedented educational collaboration that is taking place daily among teachers, students and parents is inspiring.
As we head into the Spring break this coming Friday afternoon, please expect another written communication from the school addressing a number of other matters.
Best regards, wishing everyone a good week,
Mark and the Covid-19 Response Team
