Dear SDFAS community,
I am writing with a Covid-19 update and to share information about next week.
At this time, we have no knowledge of any member of the SDFAS community testing positive for Covid-19. I would like to reiterate the school’s call for information sharing in confidence from any person within our community who tests presumptive positive for Covid-19 or who has had known recent contact with someone who either at the time, or at a time subsequent to an encounter, tested positive for Covid-19. We will continue to respect the privacy of individuals.
The SDFAS campus will remain closed at least until Sunday, March 29.
As planned, we will transition to distance learning on Tuesday, March 17. For the time being, as we continue to closely monitor developments related to public health in San Diego, it is our intention to continue to provide regular updates. The school has a dedicated Covid-19 webpage and will continue to improve it over the course of the next few days.
Please know that our teachers and assistant teachers, supported by each other and the administration, spent a full work day on Friday engaged in planning and preparation. They will continue planning and preparation efforts tomorrow, Monday, March 16.
Elementary and Middle School teachers and administrators have already been in touch with students, with specific instructions for picking up books and materials from school on Monday. Pre-K and K parents who wish to pick up any of their children’s belongings should coordinate with division directors. At a minimum, Mark Rosenblum (Head of School) or Emmanuel Poulain (Director of Finance & Operations) will be on campus next week, daily from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm ready to assist you in person, as is the rest of the SDFAS faculty and staff, remotely. SDFAS faculty and staff continue to work full-time, remotely, to support teaching and learning.
Our thoughts are with each and everyone of you and your families. Stay safe and healthy. I know that as a community of empathic and resilient families, we will support and sustain each other during this time of uncertainty and increased anxiety. Let us together do everything we can to keep our kids focused on the joy of learning.
As always, please feel free to reach out directly to me or to the division directors with any questions.
With appreciation and respect,
