Maru is a celebrity health-nutrition coach, chef, international best-selling author, and former competitive triathlete and marathon runner. She’s a frequent TV guest, writer, and speaker on weight loss, healthy eating, healthy Mexican food, detoxing, wellness, high performance, and empowerment topics.
Born in Mexico City and immigrated to the U.S. to pursue her MBA at Harvard Business School after a successful corporate career in a Fortune 500 company (Procter & Gamble). Her stressful and busy life led her to unhealthy eating and putting her health on the bottom of her priorities. This neglect eventually resulted in multiple health issues, depression, and decades of struggling to keep the weight off.
She went back to school to get certified on holistic nutrition and health, enrolled the help of the most progressive doctors, and began experimenting on herself. Through her education, she discovered a new way of eating that helped her get to a healthy weight and overcome the variety fo health issues and depression that had kept her on medicines for more than a decade
Today she is on a mission to teach busy people how to prepare SMART meals that are quick, healthy and absolutely delicious. One of her specialties and favorites is healthy Mexican food.
She is passionate about people with knowledge and tools to get healthier, and look and feel amazing using the power of “Healthy Eating that Feels like Cheating™” and natural solutions to support and maximize physical and emotional wellbeing.
