Covid pooled testing

As previously communicated, we will begin pooled testing on Monday 5/24. Please complete the consent form ASAP by clicking here and using the access code OPU617 to enroll your child(ren) in the Pooled testing program.

If you do not complete this form by Monday, May 24th, your child(ren) will NOT be tested by the school—they will need to be tested off-campus through the UCSD CALM program at no cost to you.

The consent form only needs to be filled out once per student. If you have already done so, thank you — no further action is required.

School policy – Please continue to wear masks!

The school’s mask-wearing policy is still in effect for students and staff regardless of vaccination status. This is because the majority of our population remains unvaccinated. We will reassess the situation as we near closer to a significant percentage of our students being fully vaccinated.

Even if you are a fully vaccinated parent, please continue to wear a mask during drop-off and pick-up.

Walk up vaccination sites

San Diego County vaccination sites accepting walk-ups, no appointment needed. Please click here for more information.

Children ages 12-15 are now eligible to be vaccinated!

San Diego County public health officials announced the county would begin administering the coronavirus vaccine to the 12-15 age group on Thursday 5/13 at county vaccination sites.

All San Diego County sites are available for drop-in vaccinations — no need to make an appointment. It is recommended you call in advance to ensure that specific locations have the Pfizer vaccine available, as that is the only vaccine approved for persons 12-15 years old.

For parents who would rather make an appointment at county sites for their child to get the vaccine, the county is expected to release information soon on how to schedule those appointments for this age group. Additionally, you can make an appointment through your child’s pediatrician’s office.

For the school’s documentation, please provide me with a copy of your child’s completed vaccination card after they receive their second dose.

SDFAS travel policy

Current CDC travel recommendations are for unvaccinated persons (students) to quarantine for 7 days after they return following non-local travel. Non-local travel is >120mi from your residence.

The school strongly recommends this post-travel quarantine, but will no longer be enforcing it.

Please contact me at nurse@sdfrenchschool.org regarding any future travel plans, as your child will be required to have a negative PCR covid test obtained after they return to San Diego. I will need to see the negative covid test result prior to their return to campus.

What to do if my Child is Sick?

If your child is experiencing any covid symptoms (runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fatigue), please keep them at home and email nurse Marilyn and your division director as soon as possible. In order for a symptomatic student to return to campus, they must have a negative covid test result, be fever-free without medication for 24hrs, their symptoms must be improving, and 24hrs have passed since the onset of their symptoms.
