Great news from Magnus! They have heard the recommendations from the community and have updated the Magnus application to now include Face ID/ Touch ID. The best way to take advantage of this update is to update the app in the Apple Store (iphone users) or Google Play Store (Android Users). Once updated, log in, and a pop up window will appear asking if you’d like to enable the Face ID/Touch ID feature. You may need to delete the app and download it again if you do not get the pop up upon logging in.

Download Magnus Health Screening App Instructions to install Magnus App For the upcoming school year, parents will use the Magnus Health Mobile App to complete a daily COVID-19 screening assessment for each SDFAS student from a smartphone in just a few clicks. This screening will need to be done every morning, at home, no later than 7:30 am, before departure for school. On August 27, 2020, parents will be able to set up a Magnus Health account via FACTS. After activating your Magnus Health account via FACTS you will install the Magnus Health Mobile App on your smartphone. To log in for the first time please follow the instructions below: At the completion of this initial process, you will be able to download the Magnus Mobile App for free on your smartphone and log in through the app to complete the screening assessment each morning. If you need additional help, you can always reference the parent tutorial. You will access the screening via the button titled “COVID-19.” We thank you in advance for your cooperation in this daily screening as it will be an imperative function of our safety protocols. Upon completion of the quick survey each morning, you will receive a message for the student’s attendance giving instructions for that day. If your child arrives at school and the screening has not been completed, we will ask that you complete it before the student exits the vehicle. A parent must be the one to fill this out. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep the school operational during this pandemic. Use of this App will help us create the safest possible environment for your children, our faculty, and staff. For any technical issues with the mobile app such as login problems, or problems completing the screening please contact customer support at Magnus Health SMR by phone at 877.461.6831 or by email at service@magnushealthportal.com.

What have we done this week in Preschool? PK0: This week we continued working on the book “C’est un petit livre” by getting familiar with the use of a book and comparing it to different objects of the same shape. We started singing some new songs in French that we already know in English, like “Les Roues de l’Autobus” (“The Wheels on the Bus”) and “La Belle Pieuvre” (“Slippery fish”). PK1: This week PK1 students mixed colors to see what color came out, for example what does blue and yellow make? We explored our album through art by painting our Pops different colors depending on what they ate. In gross motor skills, we are jumping different ways (up, down, long jump) PK2: This week some classes kept working on their initials and their names, others on vertical and horizontal lines. In maths some classes began working on patterns and we all worked on numbers. In physical education, some classes worked on gross motor obstacle courses and others played with balls.
For questions about Kindergarten, please contact Babeth Esterly, besterly@sdfrenchschool.org and Sophie Ricouard, sricouard@sdfrenchschool.org.
What have we done this week in Kindergarten? This week, we talked about teeth and the importance of brushing our teeth and we asked questions. Here are some of the questions we asked regarding our teeth: Are babies born with teeth? How many teeth do we have? What are the different parts of our mouths? What are the teeth used for? Are all our teeth the same? What happens when we lose a tooth? Why and how should we brush our teeth? What happens if we do not brush our teeth?

2nd Cooperation Council with the 4th grade Distance Learners The students give the weather forecast for the class (that is, the atmosphere of the 4th grade DL class!). Before thanking, congratulating, giving opinions and giving new ideas … Rex was the Chairman of the Board and Estelle (the mistress) the secretary. Everyone is very happy with this weekly Friday meeting. Jules was away but we thought about him.
Parent-Teacher Conferences These conferences establish an essential dialogue between families and teachers with the sole goal of the children’s success. The teachers will give feedback on the start of the school year, on upcoming projects and, when appropriate, the academic support or challenge programs. Parents will be able to give feedback on what they observe at home, how their child is feeling after this month and a half of school. The conferences are organized with the two teachers at the same time and last about twenty minutes. This year, these conferences will take place by Zoom. The teachers will send you a link to register for time slots and the Zoom link for the meeting. A few slots left! Sign up now!
