Middle School Service Learning
Our on-campus service learning program is in full swing, with Middle Schoolers volunteering in Pre-School and Kindergarten at morning welcome and at lunch time, and as also as Crossing Guards. Signing up for, committing to, and completing a task of this nature gives the Middle School students a sense of responsibility. Working with the Pre-School and Kindergarteners helps our middle schoolers cultivate empathetic leadership skills and allows them to role model being a “big kid” to our youngest students.
One of our goals for this school year is to expand off-campus service learning opportunities for Middle School. If you have suggestions for, volunteer at, or have ties with an organization that you think might be a fit for a meaningful, logistically possible, off-campus service learning opportunity for our middle school students, please let me know.
