The celebration of Earth Day on April 13, 2017 on campus was the opportunity to reflect on actions and solutions that we can all implement in order to protect the environment. Also, all year-round in histoire/géographie class, students from 6th to 8th grades have worked on sustainability.
Watching the movie “Before the Flood” on May 12 is the continuation of our commitment to become more aware of the human impact on the planet. The movie will also help students better understand the articulation between science and histoire/géographie classes.
“Before the Flood” explains the consequences of human activity on coral reefs and the impact of palm oil production on tropical forests. Several solutions to tackle destruction are exposed, such as modifying how we eat and implementing a carbon tax. This documentary also presents the efforts made the international community, commenting on the COP21 conference, which occurred in Paris in November and December 2015. In his interview with Leonardo Di Caprio, Barack Obama reflects on his environmental policy and his effort to tackle global warming.
