On November 21, 2018, the 8th graders had the unique opportunity to conduct a live interview of scientists who were on the field: Daniel Hoer and his crew of 14 research scientists took us live on board of their ship on the Sea of Cortez. The team is currently studying hydrothermal vents. Students carefully crafted their questions ahead of the interview with their science teacher, Ms. Jacoway. We watched the ROV robot attached to the ship in action collecting samples. The ROV made us discover live views of the ecosystem flourishing around the hydrothermal vents.
We would like to express our gratitude to Ms. Chrysa Mineo for making this educational experience possible, and felt grateful for the unique and exciting opportunity.
