Outside the realm of what our school can control, the UCSD Excite Lab announced to us on 12/18/20 that as of 01/04/21 the lab will see a tripling in the volume of daily tests run (from 2,000 to near maximum capacity of 6,000). The impact is as follows:
1. Excite can no longer guarantee PCR test results by the following morning. The lab has informed schools on 12/18 to anticipate up to 48 hours moving forward into 2021. This does not mean there will always be a 48-hour wait. It does mean, however, that we must be prepared to wait up to 48 hours.
2. SDFAS will not risk re-opening campus before receiving back all PCR test results.
3. If ever test results don’t arrive until Wednesday morning January 6, we will need to re-open the campus that morning with a delayed start of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
STAGGERED MORNING DROP-OFF WILL BE THE SAME AS A NORMAL DAY… EXCEPT FOR DELAYED DROP OFF (1 hour and 45 minutes delay to start of the school day)
