This afternoon, the SDFAS Girls and Boys Track & Field teams made an impressive mark at their first official track & field meet hosted on the new 250 meter SDFAS track.
Six San Diego middle schools competed in 11 events: 4 x 100, 1600, 400, 100, 800, 200, 4 x 500, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Discus.
The girls swept the competition, finishing in first place in both the 7th/8th division (30 points) and 5th/6th division (29 points). The girls were led by Emma Berman (7th/8th 1st place 100, 200, 400), Lexine Arambulo (7th/8th 1st place 1600 & 800), Tahlia Zadeyan (5th/6th 1st place 400), Emeraude Westlake (5th/6th 1st place 1600), Emi Ayala-Sekiguchi (5th/6th 1st place Triple Jump).
On the boys side, the SDFAS 5th/6th division held on to a first place team finish, scoring 29 points, narrowly beating The Rhoades School (27 points) and Encinitas Country Day (26 points). Bravo to our 5th grade newcomers Thomas Vidan, Noe Pegulu, Teva Uteau, Jorge Bas, Richardson Liou, Tom Labbe, and Mattox Kopelman who maximized their talents and secured the team win. In the 7th/8th division, SDFAS placed 2nd as a team behind Chabad Hebrew Day, with outstanding performances by John Guckian, Emil Belhon, Nicola Redon, Seiji Ayala-Sekuguchi, and Dante Schrantz.
